“Sam took us to all the sites we wanted to see and helped us prioritize them and know how much time to spend at each one so we could get the most out of Siem Reap in our 3 days. Plus, he drove us to restaurants and clubs so that our whole trip was relaxing, fun and interesting!

"I would very much wish to recommend Sam to anyone who comes to visit Siem Reap and/or Cambodia. I have met Sam for the first time in 2004. He was my moped driver at that time. I was so impressed by his patience and a few other personality traits that we became friends. We have been emailing on and off over the last few years. I have tried to help him to start his own small business in Cambodia. He was very poor and I had a chance to witness the difficulty of his road from poverty. it has not been easy for Sam. However, he had overcome many obstacles and has proven to me and many other customers and friends he made along the way that he is very reliable dilligent and provides a great service. He also works time to time for local NGO's ( international nonprofits) and helps others in any way he can. If you ever need tour guide and transport services around Siem Reap or cambodia, please consider Sam. Thank you. Martin"

-Johnny Lim, Singapore - August 2008                                                                                                        "26 August 2008, I embarked on a journey to Siem Reap, Cambodia. It marks another footprint on my travel photography road map in exotic Asia. Cambodia is truly unique in its own way. From the delicious Khmer curry to the spectacular Angkor temples, sight and sound of the Indochina culture can be felt virtually everywhere. Indeed, it was a remarkable and intriguing travel experience for a city person like myself to witness the lifestyle in Cambodia. Also, not forgetting the Khmer Rouge that had devastated millions of innocent Cambodians. The end to this genocide has marked an important chapter in the history of Cambodia. The photos taken during this trip are dedicated to the people of Cambodia.
Special thanks to Sam, my personal tour guide, for his excellent service and patience shown throughout the trip. I would highly recommend anyone who is interested to visit Siem Reap to contact him at https://www.angkordriver-sam.com/ for a highly personalized travel experience.

"We were really glad to have Sam as our tour guide - driver during our stay in Siem Reap. We flew in having a hotel reservation and knowing we wanted to see the obvious Angkor Wat in our two days. With nothing else planned or any idea what to see, Sam was extremely helpful in planning the days for us. He took us around the temples and to some other attractions around Siem Reap. He even took us to excellent places to eat and recommended fantastic Khmer food. He showed us the nightlife scene and even took us out to an interesting place where many locals go to have a drink. With a very early flight in and a midnight flight out, Sam had no problems working around our schedule. He was very knowledgeable about the attractions and talked openly about Cambodian culture/politics. Sam, by far, made Siem Reap a highlight in our Southeast Asia tour."

"If you ever decide to go to Siem Reap in Cambodia, then Sam is the man you should have with you. Sam knows his
way in and around Siem Reap, knows a lot of Cambodia. His English is very good and he`s very friendly. Whether
he`s driving his car, you will feel save onboard. And always on time. He`s always willing to help you plan
your trip. The prices you see on the site or the prices you agree with for the far away sites, are the prices you are
gonna get. No hidden costs at the end. He made my 2nd trip to Siem Reap much more fun!"

"Sam was a delight! I am so pleased that we found him to be our tour guide during our visit to Siem Reap and the temples. He helped us to decide an itinerary for our temple visit and was flexible with our requests for unplanned activities, such as helping to arrange an Apsara dinner and to return to some of the temples for a second visit. Sam spoke good English, had a good sense of humour and was always where and when he said he would be. We found him to be very reliable and knowledgeable, and good company too. We gladly recommend Sam if you are looking for a friendly and safe driver when you are in Siem Reap."

"Hi guys, I’m back from my Siem Reap trip! And as a starter, I would like to introduce you to Sam, aka our tour guide! =D

I first got in touch with Sam weeks before my trip. As Siem Reap is not a very developed town, there are no LRTs or MRTs for you to board. For you to get around Siem Reap is either via tuk-tuk, rent a car with driver, cycle or motorbike (rent a bicycle/bike). For me I planned my itinerary way before my trip, then got in touch with Sam to discuss with him the best arrangement. Sam was very patient with me as I sent him numerous mails back and forth. Then finally after finalizing my itinerary, Sam quoted me the price and we both agree - and voila! Note: If you do not have any itinerary in mind, you can discuss with Sam beforehand and he’ll be glad to help you!

I booked Sam for a total of 2 and a half days, which included driving me around Angkor Archaeological Park, etc. I would say his price is reasonable and he provides complimentary bottled water. And most importantly, he’s pretty flexible in terms of adapting to your request. We even amended a bit of our itinerary and just informed him and it was alright. Sam speaks pretty fluent English and is always on time. =D

You can ask Sam to either drive you via car or MVP van (he can organize both). As there were 4 of us travelling, we opted for the car and I would say that car is definitely more comfortable! Tips: The weather can get pretty hot and very dry, hence the air-conditioning in the car helps. =D"

"Sam is one of the kindest people you will ever meet. He provided us with excellent service from airport pickup to drop off. I’m so glad we decided to use him and his air-conditioned Camry. Sam designed an itinerary for the two and a half days we had available to see the Wats. He would drop us off at one entrance and arrange to meet us at the other side with the air-conditioning running and an ice cold bottle of water waiting for us. He was reliable and prompt. His English is very good and he graciously taught us a great deal about his country during our drive times."

This is in regard to Sam Pho, our tour guide in Siem Reap/ Cambodia. I found him initially on the internet, and since we needed help with our trip, I decided to e-mail him. I had a reply very quickly, and he gave me the information re. his services and also helped us with the hotel reservation, as we had no idea which hotel would be good, or the location of the hotels in reference to the vicinity of town ( we wanted to be in the town centre). He made the hotel reservations for us, and met us at the airport in his air conditioned car. Everything was as promised and in addition to that, we found him to be a very nice, educated, a pleasant young man, who made our trip a very positive experience. He picked us up always on time, drove us to all the places we wanted to see, and recommended some others. We highly recommend his services to anyone... you won't regret it.... his assistance during our stay was vital.

After I went there, meet Sam and see how polite, kindness and gentle the local Cambodian is, my feeling grow even stronger. I am glad I did not buy the tour from Tokyo.I would recommend anyone to help them too. Please use the local guide/taxi driver, help them make a living.

Sam was our tour guide and driver during a 4 day visit in Siem Reap.  We contacted him via e-mail to arrange our tour. All e-mails were properly answered.  Since there were so much to see and not much time we asked Sam to help us to decide what needs to be seen when you are for the first time in Siem Reap. So, after quite a few emails we met Sam after we arrived to finalize our tour.   One of our wishes was to explore Angkor temples with so little possible of other visitors and Sam managed to bring us to temples on the right times. Most of tourists groups were gone by the time we arrived there. Some temples were totally empty and we were alone exploring them which was so magic.  Most important we felt safe and welcome by him! Dealing with Sam was an easy thing: changing tour, bringing us to laundry shop, recommending restaurant was part of his service.   We are definitely coming back to Siem Reap and going use Sam friendly service again. Moreover, the price is very reasonable and so much cheaper than the same kind of service offered by hotels in Siem Reap!

-Sarah Boyle and Tim Stone, Sydney Australia, July 2010
On our first trip to Cambodia and Siem Reap in June this year, we were lucky enough to have Sam as our tour guide and driver for the 4 days/3 nights we were there. Sam was friendly, fun and informative and was always willing to have a great chat and discussion. I was amazed at how excellent Sam’s English skills were and his own personal knowledge about Siem Reap, Cambodian culture and the temples. Sam’s flexibility and availability was greatly appreciated on our trip. He was eagerly waiting in our hotel lobby to take us to watch the sunrise over Angkor Wat at 5am and organised front row seats for us at a Cambodian Apsara Cultural night and dinner (among many other things!). We had organised Sam to drive us to Phnom Penh (6 hour drive) on our last day and unexpectedly I fell very ill and needed to go to the local hospital. Despite Sam’s uncle being in the car to get a lift with us to Phnom Penh, Sam was happy to drop everything and drive us to the hospital. He waited around till we left the hospital and was very flexible with what ever we needed to do as a result of my illness. Despite being sick, Sam safely and comfortably drove us the 5 and a half hours to Phnom Penh from Siem Reap in a very comfortable air conditioned van. Once Sam’s service to us as a driver had finished; he was more than happy to give recommendations and organise a driver for Phnom Penh for us. If you are visiting Siem Reap, particularly for the first time, there is no better driver than Sam. We now consider Sam a great friend and are looking forward to visiting him in Cambodia again soon. Regards, Sarah and Tim (Sydney, Australia)
